Living and Performing without pain IS Possible.

What many people don’t realize is, the body has an amazing capacity to heal itself - there is just interference getting in the way.

If you’re able to identify and eliminate the interference, your body will be able to properly heal itself!

Here are what previous clients have experienced after they were able to help their mind and body naturally heal:

  1. A deep understanding of the what, why, and how of pain, with the ability to share important concepts with their students.

  2. Less clicking, popping, tension/pain, or other random physical symptoms.

  3. Having the confidence to pursue their creative goals and career aspirations.

  4. Able to move past their trauma and live their life with purpose and motivation.

  5. Able to focus, let the little things go, and able to deal with setbacks with a proactive versus reactive perspective.

  6. Improved relationships with themselves and the people around them.

  7. Feeling a positive impact in every area of your life, from your body, mind, career, and personal life!

  8. Having a deeper relationship and love for yourself.

There are SO many methods to try… how do you even know what to start with?
There is so much information… and so much misinformation– how do you know what is true and what will work for your situation?
Pain is complicated, and there are many moving parts.
Accountability and motivation is hard, especially if you don't have a safe place and a supportive environment to support your journey.

An evidence and research based holistic program that will help you take ownership of your health

and give you the power to live and perform without pain

Everything you need to support you in your journey towards overcoming tension, pain, or injury.

The Functional Musician Online Studio will guide you through proven strategies within process that is easy to follow, easy to understand, with proven results. Again, you need BOTH knowledge AND implementation!

Inside this program, you’ll learn about the science behind pain, recovery, anatomy, how to move without pain, and have access to an unlimited support system that other musicians have used to help them through their injury journey.

These resources are the result of my experiences, professional certifications, and 5+ years of researching. I have adapted evidence-based concepts and programming to suit the specific needs of musicians. Not only has this helped other musicians overcome their pain or injuries, but this is the same process I have used (and still do, practice what you preach!)  to overcome my injuries and KEEP IT AWAY for  3+ years.

I’ve done the hard work of figuring out what works and figuring out how to turn this into a repeatable, yet customized process. After this program, you are going to have a new indepth understanding of yourself and your mind and body as it relates to your career. More importantly, you will be able to make the choice to continue to grow or pursue your musical career.

Alli - Oboe

At the beginning of the program, I thought it could be a big waste of time and money. Now at the end of the program, I can say that it's the best money I've ever spent on my physical health and wellness.

Hayley - Cello

I completed this program and it saved me from years of physical therapy and a lifetime of not being able to practice as much as I need to.

Haley - Bassoon

Now that I'm injury free after having worked through the program, I feel empowered to tackle auditions, new business ventures, and more!

The Functional Musician Methodology

Our methodology naturally reverses and counters the injury cycle. Not only is recovery in your power, but also in your future preventative care. This methodology consists of three pillars:

Recovery habits are your daily health and wellness habits. Regardless of career path, these habits are essential to your wellbeing, daily life, and optimum day-to-day recovery. This area gives you energy, clarity, and helps you feel great in the middle of a full and packed schedule.

This pillar also focuses on self-myofascial release - a powerful somatic alternative medicine therapy designed to relieve pain and eliminate tightness, tenderness, and muscle knots.

Functional Movement

Playing an instrument is a physical demand, some even argue musicians are athletes (hint: they are!). There are certain skills you need to help your body support a high level of practice and performance. If you lack these skills - you increase your chance for developing tension, pain, or a performance-related injury.

This pillar also focuses on low impact, functional movements that happen in your everyday life! Regardless of age, gender, race, or body type - you WILL benefit from this program! Everyone is different, but at the end of the day we are all human, and we all have similar anatomical structures that need to move in a functional way.

This is one of the most important, but often most neglected areas. It doesn't matter how much injury prevention or rehabilitation you do, if you have thought patterns, cycles, or negative self-talk, you will ultimately fall short of the life and career you envision.

In this pillar, we focus on working through these debilitating thought patterns so we can feel equipped and empowered to develop beliefs that support our motivation, goals, and overall quality of life.

Lisa, Trombone

Don't be afraid to reach out and take the plunge! Naturally, in the beginning I had a lot of doubt and worry. But Austin is GREAT at drawing parallels between health and practicing. For me, the hardest part was reaching out. It took me about 3 months and now I have a better sense of myself, my body, and the habits that support my playing and life.

Neeha, Flute

Austin is always making sure his clients are comfortable and happy, he's always there for you and is just a text away during the program, and he's also constantly looking for feedback. This program has not only helped with my physical pain, but has changed my perspective on pain and injury prevention. I will never question again if I should quit music because of pain because now I have all the tools I need to get to the root of my pain I might develop in the future.

Kevin, Cello

I am a functional musician! I have no doubts that I am going to accomplish all of the work I set out, especially with all of the techniques I've learned in this program.

This program is for someone who has been intensely practiced and focused their entire life and hasn't check in with their body. It's for that person who might not be unlocking all of their potential. I am very happy with my progress and can't wait to finish it out!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a coach?

Having someone who has lived through and experienced overcoming an injury will help you accelerate your progress, motivate you through accountability, and provide a safe space for learning, growing, and working through barriers that are holding you back.

Why is this program 12 weeks?

12 weeks is the perfect amount of time to make a transformational change. It takes 21 days to form a habit, 66 days to rewire neural pathways in the brain 90 days to build momentum. Although I do work with clients longer than 90 days, 3 months is a great amount of time to make progress without plateuing or burnout.

What if I only want to get a lesson or two?

I am here to help you make true, transformational change that lasts. Although one or two lessons might temporarily help, it takes work and time to implement new habits and change. It takes 21 days to form a habit. 66 days to rewire neural pathways in the brain. 90 days to build momentum.

What is the daily time commitment?

Daily time commitment will be anywhere from 20 - 45 minutes. Although everyone is different, I've had clients spend as little as 20 minutes a day and some clients prefer to spend an hour a day on their health. Just like with anything in life, what you put in is what you are going to get!

What happens if we hop on a call and we aren’t a good fit, or you cannot help me with my situation?

If we are not a good fit, I feel unqualified, or you would be a better fit with another health and wellness professional, I will connect you with another resource! After all, this isn't about me, this about you and finding the help that YOU need.

Do I need to go to the gym? Is there any equipment I need?

You do NOT need to go to a gym to make progress and see lasting results. All of the exercises and routines can be done in your home, practice room, or small space. Although you will probably have some equipment, we send you a care package during your first week to update your equipment and make sure you have everything you need to reach your goals.

Does it matter what instrument I play?

Nope! Every instrumenalist will benefit from this program!!

Does age matter?

Age is not a factor! However, the longer you have been in an injury cycle, the longer it will take for you to rebuild your foundation and overcome your symtoms. The most important thing is that you are ready to put in the work, get out of your comfort zone, and grow.

What is the difference between you and a medical professional?

Even though I am a Musician Injury Coach, I am not a medical professional and I do not diagnose or treat any medical injuries. However, I do help people by improving their health through lifestyle changes, movement, education, and implementation. This perspective gives clients an active role in the process of rebuilding their foundation and learning the tools necessary to support their life and career. By taking their health into their own hands, clients become responsible for themselves, their outcomes, and will continue their growth as they continue to pursue the life they want to live.

Are there payment plans?

There are payment plans available on a case by case basis to make this program more accessible and available!

Is there a money back guarantee?

To overcome your injury you have to FULLY committed to yourself and the change you want to make. Due to these reasons, I do not offer a money back gaurentee.
